Valient came to Elkdog Medicine, Inc on July 13, 2025, as an owner surrender due to lack of resources. He was a 20 year old Saddlebred gelding, half-brother to Charlie and Tommy. All three brothers were thin but Valient was the first to bounce back to a healthy weight with daily care. We were fortunate and honored in being able to reunite Valient, through adoption on September 12, 2025, with his original owner, seven hours away here in Kansas.

Pepe was surrendered to Elkdog Medicine Inc. from the Afton Police Department on September 20, 2024. He was emaciated and neglected, had been living on concrete and compacted dirt, isolated for 7 years. His hooves were sorely overgrown and unbalanced, his teeth needed floated as soon as he was healthy enough for light sedation, and he had pneumonia in one lung. He was also only partially castrated which had to be resolved. He was adopted on August 2, 2025.

Zoom came to Elkdog Medicine, Inc in May 3, 2021. He was a two year old gelding, one member of an 18-horse law enforcement seizure in Kansas. He was unhandled, wormy, and walking very flat on bad hooves. He was adopted in November 15, 2021, to a local Kansas rancher who has trained him to work cattle.

Vike is a retired racehorse. During his career 2006-2007 he placed in four races and won $28k. He stood at stud at the Louisiana Center for Equine Reproduction between 2015-2016. He was gelded sometime between 2016 and 2017 when his previous owners decided to no longer use him as a stud and sold him. His life between 2017 and 2021 is unknown. He was surrendered to Elkdog Medicine on May 28, 2021, and was quickly placed in his forever home through adoption in June.
